Barfly Goes Classic
If Kubrick had been into making comedies, I feel as though I could have possibly spent last night in one of them. It was freezing and we didn’t feel like going too far for a drink, so we hit Barfly. It was pretty dead, save for a few people gathered around a table and a few others seated at the bar. Everyone seemed to know each other. Those of you who have been to Barfly know that it’s not exactly your suit-and-tie kind of joint. Therefore although I never dared dream of hearing Bach being performed here, to our amusement, we actually enjoyed a solo cello performance. It was pleasantly odd. Like when people first started wearing Converses with their suits.
