I Am My Own Betrayal

Guillaume Morissette has been a friend and colleague of mine for two years now. The first time I read a poem of his was during a poetry workshop. I was so impressed by the submission, I wrote my phone number down after my comments before handing it back to him.

Last week he launched his first book "I Am My Own Betrayal" and I seriously urge everyone to get a copy because this guy's work packs brilliance in every word.

I had the honour of taking the cover photograph. Here's a breakdown of its symbolism made by Guillaume himself.

Paul Bowles - The Circular Valley

I stumbled upon this photograph and it instantly brought back mental images I had while reading Paul Bowles' short story The Circular Valley a few years back. (Paul Bowles Collected Stories 1939-1976 is a tremendous read).

"Everything was the same as before, but not for the Atlájala; it had known the existence of man, and now there were no men in the valley - only the abandoned building with its empty rooms to make man's absence more poignant."

Voro

Having the opportunity to shoot for Voro was really exciting as I've always loved the place.
Coincidentally, food photography is rapidly becoming a new favourite of mine.

The rest of the set can be found on their website.
