When I first saw his Succubus I was mesmerized. The intensity of it all made my chest heave.
For those unfamiliar with succubi, they are female demons that have sexual intercourse with moral men and drink up their souls during the process. There are many different versions and depictions of these creatures depending on the culture. In James Jean’s representation, the Succubus lures monks with her unearthly charms. When they succumb she is free to ravish their pious bodies and tarnish them with her sinful fluids until finally placing on their trembling lips the kiss of death.

Succubus. Ink & Acrylic on Paper, 15 x 16", 2006.
I don't believe anyone has ever wondered whether or not she had a choice. Perhaps driven by a force greater than she, her actions, uncontrolled, punish her own tortured being.
